Colors of the Moon
Do you ever stare at the moon and wonder,
If it always had the same face it has today?
What if long before we walked on the Earth,
It had an entirely different face in display?
Could you close your eyes for a moment,
And imagine what you can’t see by staring,
What if it had all the colors of the rainbow,
Instead of the same old look it’s wearing?
Can you see it red like the surface of Mars,
But covered with tulips instead of the rust?
Maybe picture it yellow like the great desert,
But covered with sunflowers instead of dust?
Can you see it green like the rainforests,
Filled with massive trees instead of rocks?
I love to imagine it deep blue like the ocean,
Wouldn’t that be beautiful and unorthodox?
Maybe if the moon could somehow speak,
It would tell us about its mysterious past,
Google says it’s four and half billion years old,
But what would it say if someone ever asked?
Maybe it would say that it had all the colors,
But they faded away like beautiful things do,
And if you have such a thing in your life,
Please hold on to it and never let it go.
